Receiving Email from Fleet Street Games

If you are expecting email from us (@fleetstreetgames.com) but it doesn't show up in your inbox, try looking for it in the 'spam' folder (in your email system this might instead be called the 'bulk' email folder or 'junk' email folder). Or better yet, prevent it ever going to the spam folder by setting up a filter in your email system to tell it that our email is OK. Each mail system treats spam a little differently. Here are some examples:

POP (and IMAP) email:

POP email is the mail you receive into your email software (an 'email client') that resides on your PC. Some popular examples of this are Outlook, Thunderbird, Opera and Eudora. If your POP email reader is not described here, it probably uses a similar method for creating filters and marking as 'not junk':

Outlook:

Mark as 'not junk':

If you have already received mail from us and Outlook has moved it to the 'junk' folder, just select the email to highlight it, then click the 'not junk' button to tell Outlook that email from us is OK.

To prevent our mail ending up in the Junk folder, add our email addresses to your contact list. This will tell Outlook that email from us is OK. Look at the bottom of this page for a list of all of our email addresses.

Thunderbird:

Mark as 'not junk':

If you have already received mail from us and Thunderbird has marked it as junk mail, just select the email to highlight it, then click the 'not junk' button to tell Thunderbird that email from us is OK. Or right click on our email address in the 'from:' field of the email, select 'create filter from message...', then follow the instructions below for creating a new filter, starting at step '3)'.

Create a filter:

Another option is to create a filter before you receive any email from us. Then, when our email reaches your inbox, the filter could send it directly to another folder, for example, 'FSG' (that you would create ahead of time), or simply mark our mail as 'not spam':

  1. Click on the menu item 'tools' then select 'message filters'
  2. On the message filters pop up box, click 'new'
  3. Call the filter name something like "Fleet Street Games"
  4. Select 'any of the following'
  5. Select 'from'
  6. Select 'contains' then type: @fleetstreetgames.com
  7. Select 'set junk status to'
  8. Select 'not junk'
  9. Click OK to save it

Web (browser) based email:

If you read your mail from a web page, then you need to follow the instructions specific to your web based email. Here are some examples, but if yours is not listed here, it probably uses a similar method:

ATT Yahoo (pacbell, sbcglobal, etc.):

Yahoo online mail uses a feature called SpamGuard. You can turn this on or off, but you would usually want to keep it turned on. It moves all suspect mail to the 'spam' folder. If you find our mail there, select it by highlighting it or clicking the check box, then click the 'not spam' button. This will move the message to the inbox and train Yahoo to leave it alone in the future.

NOTE: Yahoo deletes mail in the spam folder after one month, or less, depending on the settings you select in Spam Guard

NOTE: If your email account remains dormant for 3 months the account is deactivated, then all email sent to that address will bounce back to the sender

Google mail:

Google moves all suspect mail to the 'spam' folder. If you find our mail there, select it (with the check box) and then click the 'not spam' button. This will move the mail to the inbox and train Google to leave it alone in the future.

Adding us to your Google address book:

However, the training isn't perfect and can take a while for Google to learn what is and isn't spam, so to guarantee that we don't get marked as spam, you should also add our address to your Google address book by clicking on 'Contacts' and adding our email address as a new contact. Look at the bottom of this page for a list of all of our email addresses.

Create a filter:

The easiest solution is to create a 'wild card' filter ahead of time to prevent any of our "@fleetstreetgames.com" email ever going to spam:

  1. Click the small link 'Create a filter' which you will find near the top of any of your gmail pages, just to the right of the big 'search the web' button
  2. In the 'from:' field, type: @fleetstreetgames.com
  3. Click the "next step >>" button
  4. Checkmark the box 'never send it to spam'
  5. Any email that already fits the criteria (i.e. emails that we have already sent to you) will also be listed. If you see any, then checkmark the box "also apply filter to conversations below"
  6. Now click 'Create Filter' and from now on our email should not end up in your spam folder

NOTE: Google deletes spam in the spam folder after one month

AIM (AOL) mail

AIM moves all suspect mail to the 'spam' folder. If you find our mail there: Either select it (with the check box) and then click the 'not spam' button Or hover over it, then click the down arrow to the right of the 'from:' column and select 'not spam'. This will move the mail to the inbox, but will not train AOL to allow it in the future, so you should then add our email address as a new 'contact' to let AOL know that we are not spam using the method below, or much easier, create a filter using the instructions that follow:

Adding us to your AIM address book:

  1. Click the 'people' button
  2. Then click the 'new contact' button
  3. In the 'first name' field type, for example: Support
  4. In the 'last name' field type: FSG
  5. In the email field type: support@fleetstreetgames.com
  6. Click the 'Add Contact' button to save the contact
  7. Repeat steps 2,3, 4 and 5 above for our other email addresses. Look at the bottom of this page for a list of all of our email addresses.

Create a filter:

An easier way is to create a 'wild card' filter ahead of time to prevent any of our "@fleetstreetgames.com" email ever going to spam:

  1. Either Click the 'Action' button which you will find just above your emails Select 'create a filter'
    or
Hover over our email, then click the down arrow to the right of the 'from:' column and select 'create a filter
  2. In the 'create a filter named' field give it a name, such as FleetStreetGames
  3. In the 'from:' field, type: @fleetstreetgames.com
  4. In the 'then move to:' drop down list, select 'Saved Mail':
  5. Now click 'Create' button and from now on our email should end up in your 'saved mail' folder

NOTE: If you ever want to change or remove the filter, select 'Settings (near the top on the right) and select 'filters'
